I recently found this in an older notebook while looking for some other information. It was undated- I have no recollection of writing it... but I like it.

Give the world the gift of what you are.

Your dreams, your imagination, creativity, love, lust. No one else can offer what you have.

No one else can be who you are.

No one else can shine like you can. No one.

 

Give the world all that you are, and fight like hell for it. Give, or it will just take what it wants from you, leaving you drained, lost, empty, and wondering what the hell happened to who you imagined you were, the gift of who you are wasted, who you could be lost to the masses as you are turned into another grey life, as the shine fades from your eyes…

 

To deny the world of who you are

to deny the world of everything that you want to be

can be

and dream –

there is no greater tragedy, nothing closer to a living death

 

so fight.

Fight like fucking hell, and don’t let anyone tell you

that what you’re doing is wrong

dissuade you, change you, make you feel like shit because

right now things might not be so fantastic…

 

they don’t know, lost behind what they have been taught to believe

and you have this chance

to kindle that spark in your eyes that perhaps they don’t understand

and so fight like fucking hell to emerge

become who you are because

there is nothing more sacred, more valuable –

or more challenging to become

the gift that only you can offer the world:

 

so fight…

and shine.
